Write for us!
Hello and thank you for wanting to write about your experiences as a successful traveler!
The Nylon Carry All is a blog dedicated to sharing “best practices” and “best places.” However, practices and places are as much about discovery and attempt as they are about completion. When figuring out how best to do something, getting there can be half the fun.
So I encourage you to write often, and revisit what you have written later with new thoughts, improvements, and new discoveries. The Nylon Carry All is best when it is a community of readers and writers sharing and building a common pool of knowledge.
Here are some suggestions for your posts:
1) Pick one thing to discuss per post. If you recently took a trip to a new city, for example, pick one aspect of that trip to focus on for that post. For example, you might post about a new packing technique you tried, and how it worked. Or you might write about a new restaurant you discovered, and how the meal was. Or, if the border crossing was tricky, devise a hack to share with readers that they might find useful for their future border crossings. The possibilities are endless, so long as you keep the focus clear.
2) Once you have a focus, be as detailed as you’d like. Did you pack a bag? Make a list of what went in it, and what you used and what you didn’t. Tell us how you arranged the items in your bag and why. Or if your focus is “how to discover non-touristy spots in a new city,” make a list of practices that have worked for you, as well as ones that haven’t, and let us know why.
3) Are there specific items you would recommend, or not recommend? As your post goes through the editorial process, highlight these so they can become useful links for our readers.
As you can see, a single travel experience can yield a great number of useful posts on different subjects. The Nylon Carry All categories list will help readers find the specific posts they need, so the more and more varied postings we have, the better.
A few more things to keep in mind: Our ethic emphasizes simplicity over gadgetry, and “relational” travel over tourism. Traveling light and traveling friendly are key to what we do.
Thank you again for your interest in writing for us!
